Lindsey Barnes Felix did not attend tonight’s meeting she will attend the April 4, 2011 committee meeting.
• Committee Elections-Meeting was turned over to Billie Luker.
(RM) Rita Mullin made a motion to nominated Lauren McMullen for Chair Person of the North Reading Parks & Recreation Committee.
(PF) Patricia Filmore seconds the motions.

(RM) Rita expressed that she believes we should ask a member from all other town committees, sports leagues, Martins Pond Association.
(BL) Billie suggested the PTO as well.
o Walk of Fame Update
(RM) Rita sent an email out to the Turf Committee asking for their assistance on promoting the “Walk of Fame”
(SS) Sheila and Rita are going to Sports Awards night at High School to Promote Bricks and make speeches regarding Walk of Fame.

Sergio asked how many chafing dishes we needed for Wine & Food. Sheila will check with Marias and email Sergio.
Discussion was had regarding how to handle the 50/50 raffle.
Advertising in transcript-Lauren suggested to place large ad first and then do a small add if needed, last week to a letter to editor.

o Scholarships
Lynne is already receiving requests for scholarships for the summer programs. Last year she received heavy requests for scholarships. Lynne and revamping the entire scholarship process, policies and procedures and approval system. She passed out guideline for scholarship she found for other town Recreation Departments. She will work on the process and system and bring it to the committee for review and approval. Lynne is asking for the committee to come up with a final number of scholarships that are going to be allowed to be approved this year and let her know.
Lynne also explained that she discover throughout her research that no other town gives 100% scholarship. They actually have fundraising that supplements the revenues for scholarships. Her and Maureen came up with the idea of putting a choice on our ROS online system that would say” Sponsor a Child” and that program would supplement funds for scholarships.
o Spring Dance Update
57 families showed up and the event went very well.
o Vacation week and upcoming events
Recreation programs were very successful over Vacation week. The one day events went very well, planning more one day events in the future and for April vacation.

Sheila also informed everyone that they have received 520 brick orders. We still need $20,000 to make project on time for spring installation. Rita is going to get the Turf Committee involved.
Rita left meeting at 8:40pm to go to Selectman’s meeting.
